YO! Youth Outlook is an award-winning literary monthly journal of youth life in the Bay Area. Featuring in-depth reporting pieces and first-person essays, comic strips and poetry pages, YO! is the communication outlet for youth who feel their voice and visions need to be seen and heard. YO! is a bridge to the world of youth expression.
The Beat Within
The Beat Within is a publication of the writings and art from Juvenile Halls and beyond. Founded in 1996 by David Inocencio and Sandy Close of Pacific News Service, The Beat began with a single workshop in one of San Francisco's Youth Guidance Center (Juvenile Hall) units. Soon after, The Beat took on more workshops in the Youth Guidance Center. Today, The Beat Within conducts 40 writing and conversation workshops a week in six Juvenile Hall facilities in the San Francisco Bay Area: San Francisco, Alameda, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Santa Cruz, and Napa counties. In addition to this website, we publish two weekly Beats ranging from 40 to 100 pages plus an eight page Beat Monthly.
De-bug magazine
Silicon Valley De-Bug is a publication made by young workers, writers, and artists in Silicon Valley. We are sponsored by the non-profit Pacific News Service. De-Bug began by examining our own work experiences on high-tech's low wage assembly lines. We continue to publish stories and pictures on youth and working people's perspective on Silicon Valley life. We are a platform for the unheard voices of Silicon Valley's young and temporary.
