DEADLINE EXTENDED! TELL IT LIKE IT IS! MEDIA JUSTICE TRAINING CAMPS 2007
For many reasons, we have decided to extend the application deadline to:
MAY 7, 2007
After reviewing applications, we noticed that some of our favorite organizations hadn't applied. When we followed up with folks, it turns out that finance was the number one reason that people were hesitant to apply. Although the training is FREE, the travel/housing costs would have been way beyond their budgets given the fiscal challenges all of our movements are facing.
We also noticed that several applicants had difficulty choosing
which training to attend because their organization's goals fit multiple trainings. As a result, the staff of Third World
Majority has decided to COMBINE the three trainings for Immigrant Rights, Reproductive Justice, and Queer/Trans Justice into ONE larger CROSS-SECTORAL Digital Storytelling Training. This will allow us to conserve resources and apply them to support people's travel to this national training. This National Camp will take place in early August (exact dates and location TBA).
With additional funding recently received from the Surdna Foundation, we are now pleased to cover up to $300 in air travel expenses per participating organization (to be reimbursed on-site, upon presentation of travel receipts) as well as provide all meals, housing, and shuttles from the airport to the training site (participants will still be responsible for travel to the airport in their home city).
With these changes, we have decided to keep the application period open until May 7, 2007 to allow more organizations to apply given these adjustments. We will then begin our review process and inform applicants of their participation in our program by Mid-May, 2007. If you have any questions or would like help in applying please contact us 510-465-6941 or by e-mail at info@cultureisaweapon.org
